The Jay Billingsley Trauma Institute helps schools, organizations, families, and communities better understand the needs beneath behavior. Through trauma-informed education, consulting, trainings, and innovative solutions we turn understanding into practical strategies that strengthen relationships, resilience, and outcomes.

Trauma affects how people think, learn, connect, and respond, but it does not define their potential. We look beyond behavior to understand underlying needs and create environments where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Rooted in education, psychology, and trauma-informed practice, our work connects behavior, learning, emotional regulation, and human development. We translate that expertise into practical strategies for schools, organizations, families, and communities.

We help turn trauma awareness into meaningful action. By strengthening relationships, equipping people with practical tools, and supporting healthier systems, our work is designed to create change that extends beyond the moment.

Grounded in research and shaped by more than a decade of experience across education, psychology, mental health, and trauma-responsive practice, we turn evidence into practical strategies that strengthen regulation, relationships, learning, and resilience.

Her work bridges psychology, education, and trauma-responsive practice to help people look beyond behavior and understand the needs beneath it.
These strategies were shaped in real classroom environments, not just in theory. When applied consistently in a high-risk setting, students demonstrated 2–3× stronger academic performance, disciplinary referrals remained exceptionally low at 1–2 per teacher annually, and educators reported reduced stress and burnout.
Our approach draws from established research in trauma, psychology, education, emotional regulation, and relationship-centered practice. We translate that evidence into practical strategies that strengthen learning, relationships, resilience, and meaningful change across real-world settings and the communities they serve.

Our solutions are designed for the people, organizations, and communities where meaningful change begins. We meet each partner where they are and help build environments that foster understanding, resilience, connection, and growth.
